Flat Plans

For the preliminary task i created a Flat Plan for both my front cover and my contents page for my design of the college magasine. I created these Flat Plans to get an initial idea on what the design will look like for the magasine. I think that the desgin that I created appeals to my target audience well as it has many features that would make students want to read it. the masthead that i designed has the college name which i have shortened from 'Sussex Downs College' to 'SDC', i feel that displaying the name of the college in this way will appeal more to my target audience. i used language that will make the cover appeal to more people, for example 'EXCLUSIVE!' will make people want to read more through the magasine, this is what i used on my main flash and also my main sells. the layout of the contents page shows all the main stories and this will make people want to read on and see the stories shown.

Introduction

Using Adobe InDesign I will create a college magasine front cover and i will also create a contents page. My target audience for this will be Lewes Sussex Downs students. I will do this by first creating flat plan designs and then inputting them onto Adobe InDesign. As it is a mock magasine i will create my own name for it and there will be mock articles shown on the cover and contents page.

Photographs

This was the first photograph i took to go onto the front cover of my college magasine. However, this picture was in the wrong layout to use, this was because the picture was taken too far out so you can see half on the persons body. For the college magasine i needed to take a picture from the shoulders up so that it would fit onto my front cover of the magasine.

The next picture i took was the correct size for the front cover of my magasine. The person in the picture is in the right position and it is the right size to fit the front cover. the picture is taken with a clear background so all the detail is on the person pictured. He is smiling which will appeal to people and more people will want to read the magasine.
